OUR MISSION

Who We Are

Living Hope Community Church began meeting at Bruce Chapel on route 14, just outside of Carmi on August 1, 2010. We met due to a youth conference called MOVE put on by Christ In Youth Conference. Our meeting was a full church service, but with the focus of prayer for the 14 youth attending. About 35 came to that meeting, and it was a one time meeting, or that was the plan.

As we soon learned, God had other plans. After the first service, God led us to continue meeting as a body of believers. It was amazing how the Lord brought us together in a beautiful, country church without modern conveniences. God was forming a new church family before our very eyes.

After a few months of meeting, God made it apparent that we needed to move to another building due to size, lack of running water, and parking at Bruce Chapel. We began meeting here at the “Lighthouse” on October 17, 2010. God brought us a long way in a short time, and we are constantly changing to meet the needs before us.

We are over 2 years old now, and can see everything God has done and give Him the praise! We began accepting members officially in 2011 . We are so excited about the future of Living Hope. With God all things are possible, and we continue to look to Him for each step.

We were blessed with having Lyle Chastain as our worship leader for the majority of the first 2 years, and he is now in a new church work in Elmhurst, IL. We are so thankful for our time with Him, but know God has big plans for his future serving God in Chicagoland! We didn't have a plan to fill his slot, but God did! We have an all volunteer worship team now, and God is truly growing our team into a unit to praise and worship him.

We are leasing the Lighthouse building from our brothers in Christ, Trinity Assembly of God, to be used on Sunday mornings and evenings. We are not affiliated with Trinity Assembly of God or the Assembly of God denomination. We are very thankful to them for allowing us to use their building as we begin as a new church.

We are a non-denominational, independent church with the Bible as our final authority in all matters. We are a loving church family who desires to live out our faith in a world that is always looking for hope. We get our name from 1 Peter 1:3, and we believe that Jesus Christ provides us a living hope for this life and for all of eternity.

We would love to have you worship with us!
